Ashton Kutcher was in court today to testify in the trial of suspected serial killer Michael Gargiulo, aka the Hollywood Ripper. The actor’s testimony is vital to the case because he was friendly with one of the victims at the time of her death.
Kutcher told the court he met 22-year-old Ashley Ellerin in December of 2000. The two discovered they were both single and decided to go on a date. Their schedules were crazy, so a first date was set up for February 21, 2001. Ellerin was going to accompany the That 70’s Show hunk to a Grammy’s party.
However, the date would never happen. People magazine is reporting that prosecutors believe on the night the model and actor planned their date, Gargiulo snuck into Ellerin’s apartment, where he stabbed her 47 times. The brutal murder occurred as she was preparing for her night out with Kutcher.

The Ranch star testified he showed up at Ellerin apartment between 10:30 and 10:45 PM, after calling to confirm plans around 8:30 PM. He knocked several times, but no one answered. Kutcher shared he tried the door, but it was locked, even though lights were on throughout the apartment. The 41-year-old assumed his date had bailed on him, so he left and continued with his evening.
Even though prosecutors believe the model had been killed by the time Kutcher showed up, he was freaking out the next day after learning of her death. His fingerprints were all over the door from knocking and turning the doorknob.
“My fingerprints are on this door, and I was freaking out. I told an officer, Let me tell you what happened,” declared Kutcher during the trial.
Mila Kunis’ husband also shared when he peered through the window, he saw what he thought were red wine stains from a house party Ellerin threw days before, which he attended. Kutcher later learned those were blood stains from the murder.

He is one of 100 witnesses at the trial hoping to ensure Michael Gargiulo receives the death penalty for his actions. Ashton Kutcher’s testimony is vital because it helps set a time lime of events, involving the night that instead of having his first date with Ashley Ellerin, she was killed.
People magazine reported the actor testified for about 40 minutes and maintained his composure while answering questions.

Prosecutors believe Gargiulo had been watching the model for months, after meeting her outside her home when she needed help fixing a flat tire. He is also facing charges for the murder of Tricia Pacaccio in 1993, Maria Bruno in 2005, and attempted murder of Michelle Murphy in 2008.
